Laser Eye Surgery Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a refractive error of the eye that occurs due to imperfections in the curvature of the eye. People who suffer from astigmatism, have an irregular shape in the lens or the cornea. This causes objects to focus irregularly on the retina, causing blurred vision.

Unlike what happens with myopia or hyperopia, people who suffer from astigmatism, see badly at any distance.

With laser eye surgery, the doctor remodels the cornea of the eye with the laser excimer to remove the irregularities in the cornea.  After corrective eye surgery, the cornea is reshaped and made uniform, thus from this moment onwards, the image is formed regularly on the retina, improving eyesight.
